MARC DOUGLAS SENTENCED IN KILMARNOCK FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN
In a recent development at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, 30-year-old Marc Douglas, a known sex offender from Titwood Drive, Kilmarnock, has been sentenced to four months in prison.This sentencing follows a series of breaches of his previous court orders and further criminal activity involving minors.
Douglas’s criminal history includes a prior conviction from 2005, when he was jailed for 18 months after admitting to sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy.
During that incident, Douglas lured the young victim into his home, where he subjected him to indecent assault and coerced him into performing a sex act.
This earlier conviction marked a significant chapter in his criminal record, highlighting a pattern of concerning behavior towards minors.
Most recently, Douglas was placed on a two-year probation period after breaching a sexual offences prevention order.
This order explicitly prohibited him from having any contact with individuals under the age of 17, as well as from entering public parks, leisure areas, or school and nursery grounds.
Despite these restrictions, Douglas was found to have violated the order, leading to the revocation of his probation and the imposition of a four-month jail sentence last week.
The breach was confirmed when police officers observed Douglas at Kilmarnock’s Odeon cinema in January 2010, where he was watching the film ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks 2’.
However, the more alarming breach was discovered in February of this year at Kilmarnock bus station.
Officers spotted Douglas signaling to a four-year-old boy, which raised immediate concerns about his intentions.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Douglas had maintained regular contact with the young boy and also with a nine-year-old boy.
The mother of the four-year-old confirmed to police that her son frequently visited a house in Waddell Court, Kilmarnock, which was known to be the residence of close friends of Douglas.
She also provided information about the nine-year-old boy who visited the same house, indicating a troubling pattern of contact and potential exploitation.
Following these findings, the court decided to revoke Douglas’s probation and impose a four-month jail sentence, which is set to run concurrently with his current incarceration.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of his breaches and the ongoing concern for the safety of children in the community of Kilmarnock.
