MALCOLM HOLLAND SENTENCED IN HALIFAX FOR DECADES OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

A man from Halifax has been formally sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against young girls, some as young as seven years old. Malcolm Holland, aged 66 and a resident of Carlton Street in Halifax, was first taken into custody in April 2021 after one of his victims demonstrated remarkable bravery by reporting the abuse to law enforcement authorities. This initial report prompted a thorough investigation by Calderdale District Safeguarding Detectives, who uncovered disturbing evidence indicating that Holland's abusive behavior spanned over twenty years.

During this period, multiple victims, whose ages ranged from seven to fourteen, endured repeated acts of sexual violence at the hands of Holland. The charges brought against him were extensive, including 14 counts in total. These charges comprised one count of indecent assault, six counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, five counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and two counts related to attempting to commit rape.

Following a comprehensive seven-day trial at Bradford Crown Court, the jury found Holland guilty on all counts. The court subsequently handed down a severe sentence of 21 and a half years in prison, with an additional two years on license, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Furthermore, Holland was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. He is also subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes strict restrictions aimed at preventing any future offenses.

Detective Constable Riah Nicholson described Holland as a predatory individual who deliberately targeted vulnerable young children over a prolonged period. She emphasized the importance of the victims' courage in coming forward and trusting the criminal justice process, which ultimately led to Holland’s conviction. The judge’s sentencing aims not only to deliver justice for the victims but also to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and holding offenders accountable for their heinous actions.
