UPDATE: TWO MORE JAILED FOR NON-RECENT CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN CALDERDALE
Two men have received convictions and prison sentences for the sexual abuse of young girls in Calderdale, bringing the total number of those jailed in connection with four separate investigations to 24.Due to legal restrictions, the details of these outcomes could not be disclosed until now.
The convictions stem from an investigation that was initiated in 2016, which looked into reports of child sexual exploitation and abuse involving two girls in Calderdale.
The incidents occurred between 2006 and 2009, during which the girls were aged between 13 and 16.
Mahtab Islam, aged 51 and from Halifax, was convicted on five counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and perverting the course of justice concerning one of the victims.
He was initially sentenced to 16 years in prison.
However, after an appeal, his sentence was increased to a total of 18 years.
Arfan Mir, also known as Khalifa Mughal, aged 42 and also from Halifax, was found guilty of raping one of the girls and supplying a Class A drug, as well as perverting the course of justice related to the other girl.
Mir was sentenced to 12 years but successfully appealed, resulting in his sentence being reduced to 10 years.
