PETERHEAD MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND BREAK OF HIS PARTNER'S JAW
A violent domestic abuser who fractured his girlfriend's jaw in Peterhead has been sentenced to jail.Lukasz Dalach, who moved to the country in 2021, turned to alcohol after losing his job and began to inflict harm and control his partner.
The court heard how Dalach caused his girlfriend to be prevented from accessing her own money, controlling her and physically assaulting her whenever he was intoxicated.
On one occasion, he punched her in the face, breaking her jaw.
His abusive behaviour was relentless, including slapping her, punching her thigh, chest, and ribs, and insulting her with derogatory names both in English and his native language.
She managed to escape from him before Hogmanay last year by fleeing while he was out drinking.
Initially, court proceedings were deferred to facilitate deportation paperwork, as Dalach is a Polish national.
He was subsequently sentenced to 32 months in prison.
Sheriff Phillip Mann emphasized the seriousness of the crime, noting that the offence involved an aggravation of danger to life, which increased its severity.
Dalach, who was at HMP Grampian during the court hearing, accepted he would end up in prison.
His solicitor explained he had too much free time after losing his job, which contributed to his drinking and violent behaviour.
Dalach's non-settled status in the UK was also highlighted as a factor, and he appeared resigned to his prison sentence.
