LEOMINSTER WOMAN JAILED FOR EXTREME ANIMAL CRUELTY
Craddock guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an American bulldog called Ocean. The RSPCA investigated Craddock after she took Ocean’s skeletal body to a local vet practice on June 13, 2025.
The deceased pet, who was wrapped in a duvet, was covered in faeces and urine.
Examination found that she was extremely emaciated with sunken eyes.
She weighed just 7kg against an ideal weight for her breed of around 30kg.
Craddock reportedly told the vet that Ocean had been “off her food for several days and she was hand-feeding her”.
However, a post-mortem concluded that the dog had died from prolonged starvation.
She had little muscle fat and was also suffering from pressure sores.
There was evidence that she had eaten her own faeces in her desperation for food.
Handing out a rare immediate prison sentence, magistrates told Craddock that having viewed “distressing” photos of Ocean’s body, they could not accept that she was unware that the dog was suffering.
They added: “Given the extreme level of neglect and cruelty, only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified.” Sentencing | 16-week custodial; £154 victim surcharge.
Disqualified for life from having anything to do with animals.
