MAN OF NO FIXED ADDRESS IN WISBECH JAILED FOR RAPE AND THEFT
A man identified as Linus Zukauskas, who is described as being of no fixed address, was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on January 11, 2017, to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of rape and theft.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 21, 2016, in Tillery Park, Wisbech, where Zukauskas met a woman in her 40s after she contacted him to see if he wanted to go for a drink.
They purchased alcohol together and then sat in the park under the cover of darkness to avoid CCTV.
During this time, Zukauskas held the woman down and proceeded to rape her.
After the assault, he left the scene with her handbag.
The woman reported the incident to her partner and the police, and a medical examination confirmed Zukauskas as the perpetrator.
As a result, he was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Police and investigators emphasized the bravery of the victim and the importance of reporting sexual assaults.
