In November 2019, a man began serving a three and a half year prison term after being found guilty by a unanimous jury at Worcester Crown Court of controlling and coercive behaviour.
The individual, Lindon Goodall, age 38, from Hereford and with no fixed address, started a relationship with a woman in 2018.
Throughout their relationship, he used physical violence, threats, verbal abuse, and intimidation to maintain control over her.
While on bail with South Wales Police for an assault on the victim, Goodall contacted her over 1,400 times until his arrest in April 2019.
Detective Constable Sarah Cullen commented: “This investigation was particularly difficult due to the nature of the offences.
I am pleased that justice has been achieved for the victim, and hope this sentence sends a clear message that domestic abuse and violence in any form will not be tolerated.
The victim showed immense bravery in coming forward and reporting this behaviour to the authorities.”
