PERVERT AVOIDS JAIL AFTER SECRETLY FILMING WOMEN USING TOILETS FOR 13 YEARS
A man has avoided an immediate jail sentence after he filmed women using toilets and getting undressed over the span of 13 years.Adrian Hooper recorded the women without their consent across different locations between 2008 and 2021, police said.
The 36-year-old, of Ryelands Street in Hereford, has now been slapped with a suspended sentence for the voyeurism offences.
He pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 at Hereford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 24.
He admitted he covertly recorded a total of eight adult females engaging in private acts including using the toilet and getting dressed/undressed without their knowledge or consent.
He was given a 26-week sentence, suspended for 24 months and ordered to pay £3,000 compensation, a victim surcharge of £154 and pay costs of £154.
He was also ordered to comply with a rehabilitation activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 25 days, and he must carry out unpaid work for 250 hours within the next twelve months, also supervised by the responsible officer.
The court ordered him to register as a sex offender for seven years.
Following the sentencing, DC Niamh Crofts of Hereford CID said: “I commend the victims for their courage in reporting these incidents and for their patience throughout the investigation and court process.
“We take all such offences extremely seriously and remain committed to bringing offenders to justice.”
