A convicted sex offender from Falkirk has narrowly avoided incarceration despite committing a disturbing assault on a sleeping woman and causing extensive damage to a private residence. One victim, speaking exclusively to the Daily Record, expressed her frustration and concern: “He’s a danger to society, but the courts won’t jail him because he plays the mental health card. Meanwhile, his victims are left to pick up the pieces.”

Currently, Weir is reported to be in a relationship with a woman named Caitlin McCaffery. However, sources close to the case suggest that she may not be fully aware of the extent of his criminal past. There are also concerns regarding his registered address, which is listed at his grandmother’s house, although his recent movements imply he might not actually be living there.

Authorities became aware of Weir’s potential risk through Claire’s Law, a legal provision that allows individuals to request information about a partner’s history of violence.
