A woman from Dundee has courageously spoken out about the harrowing ordeal of abuse and sexual assault she endured at the hands of her former partner, Liam Anderson, who hails from Charleston. The victim, Katie Clark, now 20 years old, revealed that she first met Anderson online in 2022 when she was only 16 years old. At the beginning of their relationship, Anderson appeared to be a kind and caring individual, often helping her with household chores and purchasing gifts, which initially fostered a sense of trust and affection.

However, this facade quickly unraveled within approximately three months. Anderson’s behavior took a dark turn, marked by verbal abuse in the form of name-calling and issuing threats. As time progressed, the situation deteriorated further, culminating in physical violence and terrifying acts of coercion. Katie recounted that Anderson subjected her to brutal assaults, including headbutts and pressure applied to her neck, which caused her to lose consciousness. She also described instances where he held a knife to her neck and issued threats to kill her, creating an environment of constant fear and intimidation.

Her ordeal reached a climax when Anderson raped her, an act that left her emotionally shattered. During his trial at the Edinburgh High Court, Anderson was found guilty by a jury and subsequently sentenced in November to serve eight years in prison, with a five-year custodial sentence. Katie chose to waive her right to anonymity, speaking openly about her experiences to shed light on the severity of her trauma. She recounted how Anderson manipulated her into cutting off her entire family and severing ties with friends, effectively isolating her and making her feel petrified and trapped.

Throughout the trial, Katie testified from behind a screen, demonstrating remarkable bravery.
