MIDDLESBROUGH PENSIONER JAILED FOR YEARS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A pensioner named Leslie Wilson, aged 77, who sexually abused a young girl over several years, has been sentenced.Wilson was found guilty of multiple charges including sexual assault on a young child and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The abuse was described as occurring on numerous occasions, with the victim being pressured to discuss sexual matters and even offered the chance to have her virginity taken, despite her being under 16.
When police officers visited Wilson's home last year to confront him, he responded by saying, "I shouldn’t have done it and I have been a silly man." The child victim, in a personal statement, expressed her trauma after learning that her abuse was not normal behavior.
Prosecutor Robin Turton stated that Wilson would coerce his victim to speak about sexual topics and buy her silence by telling her not to tell anyone.
The judge, Recorder Darren Preston, remarked on her distress, explaining that the victim had to write down what happened because she couldn't speak about it.
Wilson admitted to some of the abusive acts but disputed the frequency.
He was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
