LEON LEWANDOWSKI SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC RAPE AND CHILD ABUSE IN HIGH WYCOMBE AND STOOKENCHURCH

In a case that has spanned over three decades, Leon Lewandowski, a man with no fixed address but formerly residing in Stokenchurch, has been sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison for heinous crimes involving sexual assault and child cruelty committed in the areas of High Wycombe and Stokenchurch. The lengthy legal process culminated in a court hearing at Amersham Crown Court, where Lewandowski was found guilty of multiple charges related to his disturbing past.

Lewandowski, aged 50 at the time of sentencing, was convicted of four counts of rape out of six charges brought against him. The court also sentenced him to an additional six years for wilfully mistreating minors under the age of 16. These offences, which date back to the late 1970s and early 1980s, involved the sexual assault of a young girl in the vicinity of High Wycombe and Stokenchurch, police confirmed.

The child cruelty charges pertain to the physical abuse inflicted upon two young boys approximately thirty years ago. According to police reports, Lewandowski subjected these children to brutal beatings using canes, slippers, and sticks, causing significant physical harm. The investigation revealed a pattern of abuse that spanned several years, highlighting the severity and cruelty of his actions.

Authorities disclosed that Lewandowski fled the United Kingdom when he learned of the police investigation into his activities. His flight was prompted by the mounting evidence against him, and he initially escaped to Mexico. Despite being arrested in May 2010 after returning to the UK, Lewandowski again evaded justice by fleeing to France while on bail, complicating the pursuit of accountability for his crimes. The lengthy investigation, which began in 2004, was led by Detective Sergeant Simon Johnson, who expressed relief at the conclusion of the case.

Det Sgt Johnson described Lewandowski’s crimes as “horrendous” and emphasized the importance of bringing him to justice. He stated, “This investigation began in 2004 and when Lewandowski became aware of this he fled to Mexico. He later came back to the UK and was arrested in May 2010 but fled to France while on bail, so it took a long time to bring him to justice. Now that he has been sentenced I hope that his victims can find some closure. I am pleased that he has finally been brought to justice.”

With his sentencing, the victims of Lewandowski’s long-standing abuse can now begin to seek some measure of closure after enduring decades of trauma. The case underscores the importance of persistent investigation and the pursuit of justice for victims of such heinous crimes, regardless of the passage of time.
