MUHAMMAD ARSHAD SENTENCED TO 27 YEARS FOR MODERN SLAVERY AND SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HIGH WYCOMBE
Following a comprehensive investigation conducted by Thames Valley Police, a man named Muhammad Arshad has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 27 years for a series of heinous crimes involving modern slavery and sexual offences committed in High Wycombe.Arshad, aged 47 and residing on Chairborough Road in High Wycombe, appeared before Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, May 23rd, where he was formally sentenced for his crimes. The case against him was built over an eight-day trial held last year, during which a jury found him guilty of multiple serious charges.
Specifically, Muhammad Arshad was convicted of one count of modern slavery, seven counts of rape, two counts of assault, one count of common assault, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of threatening to disclose a private sexual image. It is important to note that some of the rape charges involved multiple offences of rape, highlighting the severity and extent of his criminal conduct.
However, the jury acquitted Arshad of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of assault, indicating that the evidence did not support his guilt on those particular charges.
Detective Constable Emily Sendall, who worked alongside Detective Constable Emma Wright in investigating the case, expressed her condemnation of the crimes. She stated, “These are truly horrendous offences. This case demonstrates that Thames Valley Police will leave no stone unturned in investigating sexual offenders and bringing them to justice.”
She further remarked that Muhammad Arshad was considered a respected member of the community in High Wycombe until the dark truth of his actions was uncovered. The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning several years.
According to the evidence, Arshad subjected two women to a prolonged campaign of sexual abuse from January 2018 through July 2024. One of the victims was held in servitude by Arshad from 2019 until 2024, during which time she was raped and assaulted repeatedly. The investigation uncovered the extent of his control and brutality over this individual, highlighting the severity of his crimes.
Detective Constable Sendall also took a moment to thank the victims for their extraordinary bravery in coming forward and providing crucial evidence that led to his conviction. She emphasized that their courage was instrumental in ensuring justice was served for the victims and the community at large.
