LEON DINSDALE FROM WYTHENSHAWE JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In December 2014, Leon Dinsdale, a 27-year-old resident of Wythenshawe, was sentenced to a 12-month prison term at Manchester Crown Court after admitting to multiple charges related to child exploitation.The court heard that Dinsdale had accumulated and possessed over a hundred indecent images and videos depicting children, with some classified as the most severe Category A, which involved children being raped by adults.
Investigations revealed that the collection included images of boys approximately between the ages of eight and twelve.
Police seized Dinsdale’s computer and conducted a thorough analysis, uncovering not only his use of specific search terms to find such material but also his efforts to discover ways to conceal his perverse interests.
The evidence indicated a deliberate attempt to hide his activities and preferences.
Further concerns arose when UK authorities were alerted by their counterparts in the United States, who suspected Dinsdale of grooming and enticing young boys online.
He had allegedly posed as a 14-year-old girl on a chat platform to lure children, although no formal charges were filed in connection with this particular online activity.
Following his conviction, the court imposed a sexual-harm prevention order to restrict Dinsdale’s internet usage.
This order is designed to be actively monitored by police and includes provisions to prevent him from deleting his search history, thereby ensuring ongoing oversight of his online activities.
The order also prohibits him from allowing any child under 16 to enter or remain at his residence without supervision and forbids him from communicating with minors under 16 via the internet, messaging services, or social media platforms.
In addition to his prison sentence, Dinsdale was mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
