MAN SENTENCED FOR OVER 7 YEARS AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A CHILD
A man from Wythenshawe has admitted guilt at Manchester Crown Court after an investigation conducted by the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT).Kane Batey, born on 2 October 1989 and residing in Wythenshawe, Manchester, received a sentence of seven years and four months in prison for several sexual offenses.
These offenses included producing indecent images of a child, encouraging a girl under 13 to participate in sexual acts, and forcing a child under 13 to view an image of sexual activity.
He is also required to be listed on the sex offender register and will be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
In March 2025, Durham Constabulary received reports indicating that a child was being contacted with inappropriate messages from someone believed to be an adult male.
Authorities identified the phone number involved and traced it to Batey in Manchester, which triggered an investigation by Greater Manchester Police.
During contact with the victim, Batey used the alias 'K' and claimed to be 19 years old.
After initially reaching out via TikTok in December 2024, he requested to continue their conversation on WhatsApp, where he groomed her into sharing explicit content with him.
Batey exchanged explicit images and messages with the girl, engaged in phone conversations, and pressured her into sharing pictures of herself.
An examination of the content on the victim's phone led police to execute a search warrant at Batey’s residence on 9 April 2025, resulting in his arrest and the seizure of his mobile device.
He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that prohibits him from contacting individuals under 18, using or possessing devices with internet access, and possessing any device capable of storing images without law enforcement oversight.
