TEESSIDE MAN SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Leon Crossling's partner was subjected to a violent assault in October 2020, during which he punched her in the face, grabbed her by the neck and squeezed tightly, and repeatedly stamped on her legs as she "lay curled up in a ball" on the floor.The victim suffered bruises on her legs, injuries to her jaw and eye, and was too frightened to seek medical attention at the time.
The assault came to light in December 2021 after a police officer saw photographs of her injuries on a friend's phone.
The victim had confided in her friend, including sending her picture messages and revealing that she had to use crutches to get around after the incident.
When Crossling was arrested on April 8, 2022, he claimed he would "never hurt her," but later admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Crossling, 34 years old, has a criminal history with 20 convictions for 53 offences, including battery and affray.
He is presently serving a prison term for a previous attack on his ex-partner, sentenced to 43 months in December 2022, with an expected release in July.
Judge Patrick Palmer sentenced Crossling to an additional 10 months in prison, which will run consecutively to his current sentence.
