PAEDOPHILE WHO TRIED TO GROOM 'GIRL' FOR SEX
A man involved in attempting to groom a girl for sexual activity has been given a prison sentence.Leighton Garner, aged 28, was misled by an online activist group into thinking he was talking to a 14-year-old girl during conversations in July and August of the previous year.
Throughout the exchanges, Garner sent sexually explicit images and requested additional pictures, despite being informed that the individual was an adult volunteer posing as a minor.
During their online chats, Garner received an image of the girl and discussed her age explicitly.
He also discussed the possibility of meeting her at a hotel to carry out sexual acts.
Garner also planned to meet another woman at a Retford supermarket on August 2, 2025.
However, he was intercepted by members of the activist group, who then contacted authorities.
Garner, whose address was not fixed at the time, admitted to charges of attempting to cause a girl to participate in sexual activity and engaging in sexual communication with a minor.
He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on March 2, where he was sentenced to 15 months in prison and received a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
This order aims to restrict his online activity and prevent him from accessing children.
