LEE THOMPSON PERVERT FROM CLECKHEATON CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 8,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN WEST YORKSHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cleckheaton, Lee Thompson, a 35-year-old man from Shaw Street, Moor Bottom, was found to be in possession of an extensive collection of illegal child abuse images.The investigation began when police officers visited Thompson’s residence on December 13 of the previous year, 2013, and seized multiple computers and electronic devices for forensic analysis.
Despite the initial seizure, Thompson demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law and the ongoing investigation by purchasing new software and equipment, which he used to continue downloading and viewing indecent images of children.
Further police action was taken when officers returned to his home on May 31 of the following year.
During this subsequent search, authorities uncovered additional illegal material, bringing the total number of illicit images to nearly 8,000.
The collection included 224 videos and 110 images classified within the most severe categories, levels four and five, indicating the most serious and disturbing content.
Thompson was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to 26 counts related to the possession of indecent images of children.
His actions and the extent of his collection have raised significant concern among law enforcement and the local community alike.
During the court proceedings, Zara Begum, representing Thompson, acknowledged her client’s remorse and his recognition of the need for help.
She emphasized that Thompson himself admitted to his problematic behavior and expressed a desire to seek assistance through a specialized treatment course.
Judge Christopher Batty sentenced Thompson to a three-year community and supervision order.
The court also mandated that he participate in a high-level sex offender treatment program, aiming to address his offending behavior and prevent future harm.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images and highlights the importance of rehabilitation for offenders.
