BRIDLINGTON SEX OFFENDER HOLLAND JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND PAST CRIMES
A dangerous individual who committed a serious sexual assault has been sentenced to nine years in prison. The offender, Lee Holland, aged 37 and residing on Albion Terrace in Bridlington, was convicted of raping a woman while she was asleep and intoxicated.
The court was informed that he deliberately targeted her because of her drunken state, with prior convictions including twice raping a boy in a wooded area when he was 15.
During the trial at Hull Crown Court, Holland denied the charges but was found guilty of rape.
In sentencing, Judge Mark Bury described Holland as a 'dangerous offender' with distorted beliefs about consent, noting his troubling views on women and sexuality.
The victim, a young woman, is still suffering from flashbacks, night terrors, anxiety, and depression, but has expressed her intent to rebuild her life.
Holland’s previous conviction from 1996 for raping a boy resulted in a 42-month sentence.
Under the new extended sentence, he must serve a minimum of six years before any consideration for release on licence, is required to register as a sex offender for life, and is subject to a ten-year restraining order.
