CREWE MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CONTROL
Lee Dunning, a 40-year-old man from Wistaston Road, Crewe, has received a prison sentence of four and a half years after repeatedly abusing his partner through violence and controlling behavior. He initially gained her trust by giving her gifts and moved into her residence without any prior arrangement.
Throughout their relationship, the victim endured daily assaults, which included punching, slapping, hair pulling, and spitting in her face.
One such attack was serious enough to require hospitalization and surgery.
After the injury, Dunning neglected to care for her and confined her in a secluded caravan for 24 hours.
During this time, he would throw food against the walls and force her to prepare the same meal repeatedly.
The victim managed to evict Dunning from her home in 2021 and subsequently notified the police in December of that year.
Dunning was found guilty of engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, as well as assault.
Detective Constable Kieran Marsh commended the victim for her bravery in sharing her experience during the court proceedings, describing her as heroic.
Authorities clarified that those affected by domestic violence should remain hopeful, and law enforcement agencies are committed to taking such cases seriously.
Following his sentencing, officials stated that Dunning’s conduct revealed his cowardice and assured that he will face lifelong consequences.
The case highlights the crucial need to address domestic abuse and safeguard victims from their abusers.
