LEE BURRELL FROM GALASHIELS FINED FOR ABUSIVE MESSAGES TO EX-PARTNER IN SCOTLAND

A resident of Galashiels, identified as thirty-year-old Lee Burrell, has faced legal repercussions after admitting guilt in a case involving the sending of abusive messages to his former partner. The incident took place at his residence on Halliburton Place, a well-known street within the town, on August 8 of the previous year.

Following the court proceedings at Selkirk Sheriff Court, Burrell was handed down a financial penalty of £500. In addition to the fine, the court issued a three-year Non Harassment Order, which explicitly prohibits him from making any form of contact with the woman involved in the case. This legal restriction aims to prevent further harassment or intimidation.

The court also imposed a £20 victim surcharge, a standard fee added to cover administrative costs associated with the case. The charges stemmed from evidence presented during the hearing, which confirmed that Burrell was responsible for the abusive communications directed at his former partner. These messages, deemed threatening and inappropriate, led to the legal action against him.
