ELLESMERE PORT PAEDOPHILE IS HANDED PRISON SENTENCE
An Ellesmere Port man who attempted to engage a 12-year-old girl in sexual activity has been sentenced to prison.
Ian Young, 57, of Eccleston Avenue, pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, August 13, to the offence, as well as attempting to engage a girl in sexual communication.
Judge Simon Berkson sentenced him to 40 months in prison.
The court heard that, between January 10 and June 28, 2023, Young had intentionally tried to communicate with an underage girl in a sexual manner.
He also attempted to engage a 12-year-old girl in sexual activity on June 28, 2023.
In addition to his prison term, Young was handed a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prevents him from contacting any child under 16 and restricts his internet use.
He is also required to sign the sex offenders register for 15 years and pay a surcharge of £228.
