HORWICH MAN KYLE PARKER JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION OF PARTNER
A man named Kyle Parker, residing on Longworth Road in Horwich, was sentenced to 28 months in prison for multiple violent offences against his former partner.
He initially pleaded not guilty to charges of strangulation and assault but later changed his plea to guilty at Bolton Crown Court.
Prosecutor Sophie Kenny explained that Parker had previously been subject to a restraining order and a suspended sentence aimed at preventing contact with the victim following prior assaults.
Despite this, Parker and his partner continued to see each other, which was acknowledged during the trial.
On a subsequent incident, Parker's behavior escalated when he returned home after drinking, became abusive, and physically attacked his partner, including punching her and strangling her.
The assault left her with injuries such as a black eye, bruises, a swollen forehead, and a lump in her head.
The court also heard that Parker used racially abusive language towards her and her previous partners.
His actions were carried out while under the influence of alcohol.
The judge, Abigail Hudson, highlighted his extensive history of domestic violence spanning over a decade, and noted that his previous convictions contributed to aggravating his sentence.
Parker was sentenced to 22 months in prison, with an additional six months activated from a previous suspended sentence, making a total of 28 months.
He is expected to serve up to half of this term in custody before being released on licence, and the court recognized that he remains a risk due to his history.
