MAN JAILED FOR SENDING LEWD PICTURES AND MESSAGES TO MINORS
Brandon Boatwright, 24, from Panton Street, Horwich, engaged in sending lewd pictures and sexual messages intended for children.
He believed he was communicating with minors, specifically a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, who were actually undercover police officers.
Boatwright solicited explicit images and attempted to incite sexual acts through the messages.
He also shared an image of his genitals in response to one of the officers' messages.
The police attempted to arrest him in June 2024, but he was away on holiday; upon his return, he surrendered himself and his electronic devices.
Examination of his devices revealed previous communications from October 2023 with a girl pretending to be 12, another decoy account.
During police interviews, Boatwright claimed his sexual preference was women of legal age and denied being attracted to children.
He was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court to two years and eight months in prison, along with lifelong notification and a sexual harm prevention order.
The judge highlighted the gravity of his offenses, stating the sentence could not be suspended due to their seriousness.
