KYLE GRIFFIN OF BLACKPOOL SENTENCED TO NEARLY FOUR YEARS FOR ASSAULT IN ST AUSTELL

Kyle Griffin, 21, from Blackpool, has been sentenced to three years and eight months in prison following his assault and controlling behavior towards his former partner in St Austell in March 2024. The court heard that Griffin was intoxicated and aggressive at the time of the attack, during which he threw a shoe at the victim’s face, resulting in injuries that needed 14 stitches above her right eye. The victim shared her emotional trauma, saying, "I have nightmares. All I see is his face everywhere. I lock the doors and windows because I’m scared he will come back. He almost killed me. I’m never going to get over it. What he did to me will never go away." The court noted Griffin’s long history of violence, including breaching court orders and assaulting police officers. At the time of the incident, he was also serving a suspended sentence. Despite claiming he understood his wrongdoing and expressing remorse, Griffin was convicted on multiple charges, including strangulation, actual bodily harm, coercive behavior, and attempting to pervert the course of justice. A restraining order was imposed to prevent him from contacting his victim. The court also referenced Griffin’s troubled background, which includes a difficult childhood and exposure to domestic violence.
