SHAUN GREEN FROM CHORLEY JAILED FOR BREACH OF SEX OFFENDER ORDER
In June 2017, Shaun William Green, of Fielden Street, Chorley, was sentenced to a month in prison after breaching a sexual harm prevention order.A Preston Magistrates’ Court heard that Green, who is subject to notification requirements for life, violated the order—originally imposed by Bolton Crown Court in 2010—by talking to a nine-year-old boy between April and May of that year.
Green, aged 56 at the time, pleaded guilty to two breaches of the order by engaging in communication with the boy at an address in Chorley.
As part of the court's ruling, he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Green has a prior conviction in 2009 for similar offenses.
In that case, he was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison after admitting to nine counts of sexual activity with a child.
At an earlier Bolton Crown Court hearing, Green, formerly residing on Whitegate Drive in Blackpool, was described as having known the young victim’s family for two years before beginning to sleep with her.
The offenses occurred at both her residence and his.
Green’s victim later became pregnant but had an abortion.
The investigation was triggered when the victim confided in a family friend that Green had sexual relations with her.
When confronted by her family, Green confessed and turned himself into the police.
During police interviews, the girl expressed her fear of Green, and he subsequently was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
The earlier case in May 2009 detailed Green’s troubling conduct.
He was 47 years old at the time and lived on Whitegate Drive, Blackpool.
Witnesses described Green’s behavior as ‘jumpy’ around the time of the offenses.
His relationship with the victim involved staying at her home and her staying at his.
It was discovered that she was pregnant, but she later had an abortion.
Green directly admitted to the authorities that he had engaged in sexual activity with the girl, acknowledging the possibility that his actions had caused her pregnancy.
Detective Constable Richard Armstrong from Bolton Police commented on the case, stating, “Green was a trusted family friend, but he completely abused their trust and a defenseless young girl.
The fact that this abuse could have resulted in her pregnancy and an abortion underscores how tragic this case is.
Green’s confession is only part of the story; the scars—both physical and emotional—will remain forever.
This man took away her innocence and manipulated her, leaving her too afraid to speak out.
If she hadn’t become pregnant, it’s frightening to consider how long this abuse might have continued.
The only positive from this is that Green is now behind bars and cannot harm anyone else.” Following his latest breach, Green was also ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and, upon release, serve an eight-year license period.
