KYE DELL SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN LUTON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A 21-year-old man from Luton has been sentenced to a substantial term of 14 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving a minor.Kye Dell, whose residence is on Guildford Street in Luton, appeared before Luton Crown Court where he received this extended sentence following his guilty plea at an earlier hearing.
The case centers around the disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct committed against a 15-year-old girl.
Dell's initial contact with the victim began when he approached her on an unspecified occasion, requesting her phone number.
Their communication quickly progressed into a series of text exchanges, during which Dell manipulated the situation to arrange meetings.
He offered her a place to stay after she had fallen out with her family, exploiting her vulnerable state.
Over the course of her stay at Dell’s flat, the victim recalled that he persistently approached her, making unwanted advances repeatedly.
Despite her clear refusals, Dell persisted with his advances, ultimately culminating in acts of sexual assault.
The victim endured multiple incidents of rape which she described as occurring during her time in his residence.
One particularly concerning detail of the case involves an incident witnessed by two other people present in Dell’s flat.
These witnesses observed the assault and later accompanied the victim to the police station, where she disclosed her ordeal.
Her courage in coming forward was instrumental in initiating the legal proceedings against Dell.
Following his arrest, Dell was charged with a series of offences, including multiple counts of rape of a minor.
He later admitted to the charges of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, violations of a sexual harm prevention order, and possessing an indecent image of a child.
His guilty plea on these counts ultimately led to the extended imprisonment.
The court sentenced Dell to nine years of imprisonment, with an additional five-year extension on license upon his release.
In addition, he is subject to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be registered as a sex offender permanently, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Detective Inspector Craig Laws expressed his thoughts following the sentencing, stating, “I am pleased that the court handed Dell a significant sentence.
He took advantage of this young girl and offered her a place to stay before forcibly having sex with her a number of times.
I want to reiterate that no means no and if someone does not consent to sex, it is rape.
Furthermore, this vulnerable victim was under the age of consent and, as an adult, Dell knew he was doing wrong.” DI Laws also praised the victim for her bravery in reporting the abuse and emphasized the importance of victims coming forward.
“Although she will carry the emotional impact of Dell’s actions for years to come, I hope that the fact he will be behind bars for a considerable amount of time is of some comfort to her.
We encourage anyone who has been the victim of rape or sexual abuse, no matter when it took place, to come forward and report their experience, get support and more importantly know they are not alone.” Additional, unrelated sentences were handed down to Dell, including six months for possession of an offensive weapon and two months for racially aggravated harassment.
These convictions were separate from the main offences and do not influence the primary sentencing.
