Kieren Holford, aged 20 and from Chippenham in Wiltshire, caused injuries to a puppy that subsequently died.
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 11 July, Holford pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
He acknowledged physically abusing his female sprocker-type dog, Daisy, by causing blunt force trauma at his residence on Roman Way.
Court records indicate the incident took place on 6 December 2024.
Daisy has since passed away, though it has not been confirmed whether her death was directly due to the injuries she received.
The magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report to gather additional details about the defendant ahead of the sentencing.
The case has been postponed until 21 August, with Holford released on unconditional bail.
