POSSESSIVE THUG JAILED FOR INJURING PARTNER WITH SINGLE PUNCH
A jealous and controlling thug named Kier Morrison broke his partner’s ribs and caused a punctured lung with a single punch while she was in her own flat.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how Morrison then lied to ambulance staff, claiming she injured herself by falling.
The 30-year-old's victim reported that during their four-year relationship, Morrison was violent and possessive, preventing her from seeing her family.
After spending six months in jail, Morrison is set to be released but will be subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting the woman or visiting her Nottinghamshire home.
Morrison was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
Judge Steve Coupland emphasized that no one deserves to be abused or struck by their partner and described the case as a culmination of a relationship fraught with jealousy and violence.
The judge noted that Morrison struck her on the side of the body, fracturing two ribs and causing her pain and difficulty breathing.
Morrison admitted to the assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and has a history of eight previous court appearances for 23 offences, including a four-year jail term for blackmail in 2016.
The judge also issued a restraining order against him, preventing any contact with the victim or her residence until further notice.
Morrison's behavior and the injuries inflicted highlight the psychological and physical impact of domestic violence.
