BRIERFIELD MAN JAILED FOR DRAG-OUT AND ASSAULT ON WIFE IN STREET
A man named Khalil Hussain, aged 33, was involved in a violent assault on his wife.According to court reports, Hussain pulled his wife out of a car by her hair in the street and then proceeded to beat her 'like a ragdoll'.
The incident occurred after Hussain was unable to locate her, prompting him to reverse a vehicle into her wife's car in a rage.
Throughout the evening, Hussain had called his wife multiple times while she was out with friends, but she did not answer.
He then messaged her with offensive language, saying: 'F**k your mum, I'm writing that car off.' Hussain also asked her why she had logged out of a tracking app.
Later that night, Hussain approached her at her parents' house, punched and kicked her car, and eventually reversed a vehicle into it.
When she returned in a car driven by a friend, Hussain pulled her from the vehicle by her hair and started physically abusing her in the street, which he described as 'beating her up like a ragdoll'.
He was arrested and at court, claimed his wife had assaulted him first.
Hussain admitted to sending threats of criminal damage but denied carrying it out.
The victim personal statement revealed her emotional pain, stating: 'Khalil promised me the world and made me believe I was his priority...
for him to treat me that way, I don't think I will ever truly get over it.' Hussain expressed remorse, telling the judge, 'my head is down in shame' and apologized for his 'atrocious actions'.
The court sentenced him to 20 months in jail and imposed a five-year restraining order preventing contact with the victim and entering her residence or any place she might be present.
Hussain has previously accumulated 29 convictions for 60 offenses, including a recent two-year seven-month sentence in 2023 for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The judge emphasized the terrifying nature of the incident, particularly noting Hussain's size and conduct, and acknowledged the psychological impact on the victim.
