BRIERFIELD PAEDOPHILE JEREMY WOOD SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE

Jeremy Wood, aged 56, was involved in a serious sexual assault attempt at a house in Brierfield in September 2022, where he tried to rape a 14-year-old girl.

Fortunately, he was disturbed before he could carry out his attack.

He was subsequently arrested the day after the offence and later found guilty of attempted rape earlier this year.

Wood, formerly residing on Hope Street, Brierfield, but now of no fixed address, appeared in Burnley Crown Court on June 14 where a judge declared him a dangerous offender.

He was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison with an extended period of release on license for eight years.

The police have described him as a dangerous individual with significant risk to female children due to his sexual interests, emphasizing the importance of reporting sexual offences to help protect the community.
