ANNAN SEX OFFENDER KEVIN KENNY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN DUMFRIESSHIRE
In a recent and highly disturbing case, Kevin Kenny, a resident of Annan, was sentenced to over eight years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving minors.The crimes, which spanned several years and involved multiple victims, came to light after a detailed investigation and a subsequent court hearing.
Kevin Kenny, aged 39 and formerly residing on Bruce Street in Annan, was found guilty of sexually assaulting an underage girl, whom he first targeted when she was just 13 years old.
The abuse began in October 2018, and Kenny exploited a false pretense of engaging in video game activities, specifically pretending to play on a computer console, to spend time with the young girl.
During these encounters, he committed sexual acts, taking advantage of her trust and innocence.
Prosecutor John McElroy KC explained that Kenny would use the guise of playing Xbox with the girl as a means to avoid suspicion.
This deception allowed him to continue his abuse over a period of months, causing significant trauma to the victim.
The court heard that the victim, in January 2020, became distressed while out with friends and confided in them about her ordeal.
This revelation was recorded on a mobile phone without her knowledge, providing crucial evidence for the case.
Following this disclosure, law enforcement authorities were promptly notified.
Police investigations led to Kenny’s arrest, and he was subsequently charged with multiple offenses.
During a previous appearance at the High Court, Kenny admitted to sexually assaulting and raping the girl at various addresses across Dumfriesshire between October 2018 and January of the following year.
In addition to these charges, Kenny also confessed to indecently touching a four-year-old girl between August 2000 and April 2001 at a residence in Dumfriesshire.
He further admitted to committing another sexual offense in 2018 involving a young boy, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
The court sentenced Kenny to a total of eight years and two months in prison for his sexual offenses.
Furthermore, the judge ordered that he remain under supervision for an additional two years after his release.
It was also made clear that Kenny would be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
