KELLY GODBEER, A BACKYARD BREEDER FROM WESTON-SUPER-MARE, CONVICTED IN 2025 FOR NEGLECTING DOG WITH SKIN CONDITION
Kelly Godbeer, also known as Kelly Flynn, born on December 22, 1984, and residing on Alexandra Parade in Weston-super-Mare, was convicted in 2025 for neglecting her dog.
She left her one-year-old English bulldog, Cookie, suffering from an untreated skin condition.
The RSPCA responded to a call at the address on Alexandra Parade in May 2024 and discovered Cookie with open sores on her neck, along with fur loss on her legs and feet.
Despite her evident discomfort, Cookie had never been taken to a veterinarian and had only been treated with inexpensive, online-purchased products that proved ineffective.
With proper veterinary care provided by the RSPCA, Cookie ultimately made a complete recovery.
During the hearing, Godbeer admitted to backyard breeding but claimed she never made any profit.
She expressed remorse and stated that she no longer owns any dogs.
RSPCA Inspector Hayley Lawrence, who led the investigation, emphasized the importance of veterinary care, saying: “Our plea to all animal owners is to make sure they always receive care and treatment from veterinary experts when they need it.
Cookie was clearly in pain and in desperate need of help to treat her skin condition.” She added, “Pets are completely reliant on their owners to ensure their needs are met and they are kept safe and healthy.
Owning an animal is a privilege – and ensuring appropriate veterinary care is a key part of the responsibility we have towards our pets.” Inspector Lawrence also highlighted support options for financially struggling owners: “If people are struggling to cover the costs, there are a number of charities which provide help for veterinary care for pet owners in genuine financial difficulties.
People can also work with their vet to spread the cost of treatment.” In sentencing, Godbeer was ordered to pay £400 in costs, fined £80, and banned from owning animals for four years, a ban valid until February 2029.

I’m not gonna go much more into it cause like I said go onto my Facebook there’s about four massive post with all my support and evidence that what I’m saying is the gospel truth I’m not convicted, no one branded me a backyard breeder only these un regulated Facebook groups. My dog was not found in pain. She did not have a skin condition. But I have to inform you that I am going to the police about this website and my solicitor to put this on my list of people that are slandering me. Defamation. Doxing & so on . Like I said I suggest you take off the disinformation that you found on a different Facebook group before you end up in the proper shit like them. And then we’ll see who comes out with conviction because it definitely wasn’t me and there’s proof on my Facebook of my criminal record, I don’t have one !

4. of money. All the welping costs and the dietary needs and the injections and the microchips and everything else. ? Say someone please explain to me where the so-called profit is. ? I gave one pup away , one sold for a measly £600 to cover the stud fee , and the remaining one was sold from £1700 that didn’t even cover the C-section and I was left about £700 out-of-pocket .. all the proof is on my Facebook .. When I confronted the papers the proof is on my Facebook that correspondence I got back and the brazenness of them , they basically said that although I proved in court that my dog was not found in pain and I had painkillers and other stuff and although I wasn’t a breeder they basically said it’s there a paper and they will post what they want and there’s nothing I can do about it.. wow we’ll see about that because they’re under investigation as well now for misconduct and false information

3. When that was nothing whatsoever to do with the case considering I was up in court for duty of care. . When I confronted both the RSPCA and the papers they were both falling over each other on who to blame. RSPCA if anyone would like to look on my Facebook responded with a statement stating that they never ever said that I was a backyard breeder let alone a commercial breeder. . They said they made that very clear to the papers. . Do you people even know what a backyard breeder is obviously not , how the hell can a person be a backyard breeder by having one litter of pups that were meant to be kept in my circle for competition purposes because they had over 35 cruft champions? I’m rightfully so I said I never made a profit. How is their profit when the C-section was nearly £2000 alone? And the study was really high. . And all the health tests that cost a lot of money.

2. And having legal proceedings taken against them by my solicitor. For Slander , dis information. Defamation.. doxing , data protection, using my pictures from my Facebook without my permission & so on … If you were going to post me at least get your information from the newspaper, which would’ve been less damaging to your group when I press charger , you could’ve had someone to blame for the dis information, But you get the bullshit from that other group , state that I’m convicted! Am I ? Because I’ve got proof on my Facebook stating that I had a conditional caution ,! The newspaper are getting investigated as well , stating that I was done for abusing my dog , she was not abused . That’s a strong word abuse. I was taken to court for duty of care . Also them saying that I in mitigationadmitted to breeding.

What complete and utter bullshit ! 1. I was never prosecuted nor convicted. I had a conditional discharge.my dog having an allergic reaction that happened within a 2 1/2 week period . Which was proven in court with pictures of my dog with the dates on. 2. My dog was not found in pain she was administered Metacam painkiller , that can only be bought from the vets , she was due to go to the vet on the 23rd but unfortunately the RSPCA turned up on the 21st . I have never ever admitted to being in a backyard breeder let alone a breeder. This was slander and false information. Demfamination made up by animal cruelty group. An It weren’t cheap products, I consulted a bulldog specialist with over 32 years of knowledge . And told what to treat her with and it was all working up until the head collar broke. Obviously, I was going to do my best to treat her before she was going to be seen by the vet on the 23rd. When I got paid . The other group are under investigation from the police
