SALTCOATS SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR NEARLY 20,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A Saltcoats sex offender, Keith Taylor, was caught with an almost 20,000 indecent images of children as young as two.He admitted to possessing these images, which were collected over a period of seven years from April 2016 to May 2023.
Taylor, aged 59, told police that the material might have already been on devices he purchased from car boot sales.
He was arrested after police searched his property on Argyle Road on May 3 last year, seizing two laptops and four hard drives.
The devices were later examined and found to contain 18,982 images, including 3,365 Category A, 3,665 Category B, and 8,729 Category C images, involving children from two to 14 years old.
A further 611 moving images were also found, with similar categories.
The court heard that Taylor tried to relinquish his link to the images in a police interview.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing indecent images.
A hearing was scheduled to consider the background reports, with the court delaying sentence until the beginning of the following year and granting bail.
Taylor was also placed on the sex offenders register.
