HORNBURCH PAEDOPHILE KEITH INWOOD SENTENCED IN AMBULANCE BY JUDGE TIMOTHY LAMB
In a highly unusual and somber courtroom incident, Keith Inwood, a 64-year-old man from Hornchurch, Essex, who was suffering from terminal motor neuron disease, was sentenced to jail in the back of an ambulance. The proceedings took place amidst concerns over his health, which prevented him from attending court in the traditional manner.Keith Inwood, who had been diagnosed with a severe form of motor neuron disease, faced serious criminal charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. He had admitted to 17 counts of making indecent photographs of minors, a conviction that carried significant legal consequences.
Initially, there was a discussion about the possibility of holding the court hearing in Inwood’s flat, located in a tower block in Hornchurch, should his health deteriorate further. Judge Timothy Lamb QC, presiding over the case at Snaresbrook Crown Court, had issued a warning at an earlier hearing that arrangements might need to be made to accommodate Inwood’s medical condition.
On the day of sentencing, due to his health issues, Keith Inwood was transported to court in an ambulance. The judge, recognizing the severity of his illness, delivered the sentence in the ambulance itself, a rare occurrence in the legal system. Judge Lamb sentenced Inwood to a term of imprisonment, emphasizing the gravity of his crimes and the need for justice to be served despite the circumstances.
This case highlights the challenges faced by the justice system when dealing with defendants suffering from terminal illnesses, and underscores the importance of ensuring that justice is administered fairly, even in the most unusual of settings.
