BUSINESSMAN JAILED FOR STRANGLING WIFE AMID DEBTS, POSSIBLE EARLY RELEASE
A businessman named Stephen Veysi, age 36, was convicted of manslaughter after he strangled his wife Linda, 33, amid financial and emotional stress.The incident occurred when Veysi battered Linda with a rolling pin and strangled her using a shirt.
He had planned to also kill their children and himself but lost his nerve and left her body in their bedroom for four days before surrendering to the police.
Veysi left a note on her body expressing love and remorse, stating: "Linda, I am sorry for everything I have done to you.
You deserved so much more.
You are probably the kindest, most caring and honest person in the whole wide world.
I have loved you with all my heart from the first minute I saw you.
God be with you.
Rest in peace.
Love Steve." During the trial, he admitted manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, claiming he was suffering from a 'profound' illness.
The judge, David Paget, sentenced him to life imprisonment but indicated that Veysi could potentially be released after serving 42 months, considering he had already been held on remand.
The judge also expressed hope that Veysi might someday rebuild his relationship with his three children.
