2008: PERVERT JAILED FOR FOUR MONTHS
2008: A man convicted of sexually assaulting a paramedic during treatment has received a four-month prison sentence.Keith Baines, residing on Moss Bank Way in Bolton, sustained a head injury after falling in a pub restroom on Boxing Day.
Emergency services responded to the Hope and Anchor pub on Chorley Old Road, where Baines had been drinking.
While being attended to inside the ambulance, he placed his arm around the paramedic and was cautioned about his conduct.
According to Bolton Magistrates Court, Baines then committed a sexual assault against her.
Despite a known history of violence and a police and ambulance response, the incident was not reported until the following day.
He was detained at his home on Friday, December 28.
During police interviews, Baines claimed to remember drinking at the pub, falling, and the ambulance arriving, but he did not recall the assault.
Prosecutor David Clarke stated that at an earlier hearing: "He sexually assaulted the paramedic, then sat back with a smile and commented that she looked like Lara Croft." Baines admitted guilt on Tuesday and was sentenced to four months in prison, in addition to being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.
The ambulance service publicly criticized his actions.
Greater Manchester Ambulance Area Director Delwyn Wray emphasized that the attack was deeply distressing for the staff involved.
He highlighted that while staff frequently face verbal and physical abuse, incidents as severe as this are rare.
The organization is committed to pursuing justice for all assaults on their personnel, and welcomed the custodial sentence given to Baines.
