OFFENDER JAILED FOR SERIOUS ASSAULT AND GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM ON WOMAN
A 33-year-old man was sentenced to a total of 42 months imprisonment following an attack that caused a woman’s jaw to fracture.Karl Waller-Adams carried out the assault at a residence in the Shanklin region of the Isle of Wight on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
The police were alerted on December 18 after the female victim, who was in her 40s, explained her injuries to healthcare professionals.
She sustained three fractures to her jaw that required surgical treatment, and her recovery process is still ongoing with additional surgeries planned.
Waller-Adams, who does not have a fixed address, was taken into custody and formally charged on December 19 with causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been held on remand since that time.
At Isle of Wight Crown Court on March 10, he admitted guilt to causing grievous bodily harm without intent and was handed a sentence of 36 months in prison.
In addition, he received an extra two months for harassment incidents in August 2020 and a further four months for charges including theft, assault by beating, and fraud that occurred in December 2020.
Waller-Adams was also sentenced to two additional months for harassment at St John’s Hill, Ryde, and four more months for theft, assault, and fraud at Star Street, Ryde.
Overall, a 36-month sentence was imposed following his guilty plea, and he remains in custody pending further proceedings.
