GIRL, 14, REPORTEDLY RAPED BY STRANGER; A 50-YEAR-OLD MAN HAS APPEARED IN COURT.
A teenager was reportedly raped by a stranger.
Gwent Police is investigating a report received by the force at around 7.30pm on Sunday, March 2.
Karl Drummond, 50, from Caerphilly has been charged with two counts of rape of a girl, attempted rape of a girl and assault of a female.
He appeared in Newport Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 6 and was remanded in custody.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Michelle Chaplin, said: "We understand the concern and anger that reports of this nature can have within our communities.
With the support and information from the victim, our officers were able to identify the location of the reported offences and arrest a 50-year-old man from the area on the same day of the offence." "The man has remained in police custody since his arrest and has now been charged with those offences." Drummond will next appear at Newport Crown Court on Friday, April 4.
