MAN STALKED AND TERRORISED EX-PARTNER
2019.A man from Luton has received a four-year prison sentence for stalking and threatening his former partner after their breakup.
Kamran Asif, 20, began sending messages via text and WhatsApp to the woman in March.
He made threats of violence and indicated he would upload compromising photos online.
Despite her requests for him to stop, Asif continued messaging her.
His actions became more aggressive later that month, when he smashed the rear window of her car with a baseball bat.
A few days post-incident, Asif waited in his van for his ex-girlfriend as she walked through an industrial estate in Luton.
He then grabbed her by the neck, pulled her into an underpass at knifepoint, and assaulted her.
He also damaged her headphones and threatened further harm or sexual assault.
On 23 September, at Luton Crown Court, Asif was sentenced to four years for stalking, with a two-year extended license period after his release.
He also received a 16-month sentence for carrying a bladed weapon, to be served at the same time as his other sentence.
