KAMIL KOPEC BRUTAL ATTACK IN HEREFORD LEADS TO 21-YEAR SENTENCE

In a chilling incident that shocked the community of Hereford, a man named Kamil Kopec was convicted of a violent assault that left a mother and her nine-month-old baby with severe injuries.

The attack, which took place in the early hours of July 24, 2019, resulted in Kopec being sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 21 years on Thursday, January 23, at Worcester Crown Court.

Kopec, aged 28 and residing on Hunderton Avenue in Hereford, was found guilty after a four-day trial.

He admitted to his guilt on the final day of proceedings.

The court also convicted him of possession of a knife, further underscoring the dangerous nature of his actions during the assault.

The incident unfolded around 3 a.m., when police responded to distress calls reporting a violent attack inside a residence.

The victims, a mother and her young child, had sustained multiple stab wounds.

The mother suffered a stab wound to her neck along with other injuries, while her baby had a cut to the head.

Despite their injuries, both were quickly stabilized by paramedics and transported to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Authorities launched an extensive search of the area, deploying officers to scour the property and surrounding neighborhoods.

A drone operated by the fire service was also utilized to assist in locating the suspect.

Within a short period, Kopec was discovered hiding in nearby bushes with his dog.

A knife was recovered at the scene, confirming the weapon used in the attack.

Senior Investigating Officer at Hereford CID, Detective Inspector Mark Peters, described the attack as one of the most severe he had encountered.

He stated, “These were some of the worst injuries I have seen.

Kopec committed this horrific attack inside the victim’s home, locking them inside.

The mother demonstrated remarkable resilience and bravery by escaping through a window and seeking help from her neighbors.” He further praised the quick thinking of the neighbors, the life-saving efforts of paramedics, and the swift action of police officers who apprehended Kopec.

“The bravery of the mother, the neighbors’ quick response, and the dedicated work of emergency services all played crucial roles in managing this traumatic incident,” added Detective Inspector Peters.

The community of Hereford can now find some solace in the fact that justice has been served for this brutal assault.
