KAI SMITH FROM WATFORD TO BE SENTENCED FOR MAKING OVER 7,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES

A man from Watford, identified as Kai Smith, is scheduled to face sentencing next month after being found to have created a staggering number of indecent images of children.

Smith, residing on Barclay Close in Watford, pleaded guilty to the charges during a court appearance at St Albans Magistrates' Court on January 30.

According to official court documents, the 34-year-old was responsible for producing a total of 7,345 indecent photographs and pseudo photographs of children.

These images were produced over a period of just three months, from March to June 2020.

The images are classified as Category C, which is defined as 'images of erotic posing,' indicating they depict children in sexually suggestive poses but do not involve explicit sexual activity.

Smith was brought back to the same court on Thursday, March 6, where he was expected to be sentenced.

However, the proceedings were postponed until April 3 to allow for a mental health assessment to be conducted, which could influence the final sentencing decision.

As part of the legal process, Smith has been instructed to register with the police and report regularly to Watford Police Station.

He has been granted bail until the next hearing, during which the court will consider the mental health report and determine the appropriate sentence for his crimes.
