ROCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL MURDER OF EX-GIRLFRIEND
Joshua Stimpson was convicted and received a prison sentence for the brutal slaying of his former partner, Molly McLaren, in a frenzied assault. The court was told that Stimpson, aged 26, had connected with Molly via Tinder and was in a seven-month relationship before she ended it two weeks before her death.
On June 29, Stimpson tracked her to the Dockside shopping centre in Chatham, Kent, where he waited for her at the gym, then carried out a violent attack by stabbing her 75 times while she was in her car.
Although Stimpson admitted to manslaughter, he insisted he was not guilty of murder.
The judge, Adele Williams, sentenced him to at least 26 years in prison, describing his actions as malicious, deliberate, and cowardly.
She commented, “This was a cruel, calculated, and cowardly act,” and noted that Stimpson, of Wouldham High Street in Rochester, might never be eligible for release due to the severity of his crime.
Evidence from the trial showed that Stimpson had a history of stalking two previous girlfriends, and despite police warnings to stay away from Molly, he persisted in his obsession.
Following the incident, police also reported themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Stimpson was characterized as a cold and dangerous individual with narcissistic tendencies, displaying no remorse, and psychiatrists noted he did not have a personality disorder but exhibited narcissistic traits.
The court revealed that after their breakup, Stimpson posted derogatory comments about Molly on social media.
The attack was carried out using two Stanley knives and a pick axe, which were recovered from Stimpson’s car at the scene.
Molly’s family and friends paid tribute, expressing their grief and highlighting the importance of raising awareness about stalking and encouraging people to report concerns to law enforcement.
