JOSHUA PERREAUX: POOLE AND SKEGNESS PAEDOPHILE'S HORRIFIC CRIMES REVEALED

In a disturbing case that has shocked communities across Poole and Skegness, Joshua Perreau, a university student with a dark secret, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl and the production and distribution of indecent images of children. The details of his offenses, which span several years and multiple locations, have painted a grim picture of a man driven by depravity.

According to court reports, Perreau, who was studying film at Bournemouth University, engaged in the sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl. He recorded these acts on his mobile phone and subsequently uploaded the footage onto the internet, making it accessible to a global audience. The court was told that the footage was part of a larger collection of illegal material stored on his devices.

Further investigations revealed that Perreau had also taken indecent photographs of two other young children. These images were shared via a chat platform, adding to the severity of his crimes. Prosecutor Jonathan Dunne explained that many of these offenses occurred while Perreau was staying with a girlfriend in Skegness, a seaside town known for its tourist appeal. Other crimes were committed during periods when he was residing in Leicestershire.

The police investigation was triggered when authorities in the United States identified Perreau's involvement in uploading illegal images of children. This information was relayed to UK law enforcement agencies, leading to his arrest on a train in April as he was returning to his university studies. During his arrest, Perreau made a remark indicating a lack of awareness of the seriousness of his actions, stating he did not realize how grave his offenses were.

Upon examining his laptop, authorities discovered a disturbing collection of files, including 1,687 indecent images of children, along with a significant amount of extreme pornography. His mobile phone contained footage of him sexually abusing a young girl, which further cemented his guilt.

The court heard that Perreau's criminal activities spanned from December 2014 to April 2018. His victims and their families have been left devastated by his actions. One father described Perreau as “a devious monster,” highlighting the profound impact of his crimes.

Perreau, aged 20 and residing at Pitwines Close, Poole, Dorset, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including sexual assault of a child under 13, six counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of taking indecent images, three counts of distributing indecent images, possession of prohibited images, and possession of extreme pornography.

In sentencing, Recorder Jacob Hallam QC sentenced Perreau to five years in prison, with an additional two-year license extension. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was issued a seven-year sexual harm prevention order. The judge emphasized the disturbing nature of Perreau’s obsession with pornography and the vulnerability of his young victims, condemning his failure to recognize the distress he caused and describing his actions as profoundly troubling.
