JOSHUA GLOGIEWICZ SENTENCED IN HUMBERSIDE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF INDECENT IMAGES
Joshua Glogiewicz, now 21, first started downloading indecent images when he was just 18 years old.In January of the previous year, officers from Humberside Police conducted a raid on his home located in Raven Close, Broughton, after receiving intelligence that he was downloading inappropriate material.
During the search, they confiscated multiple devices.
Craig Lowe, prosecuting, explained to Grimsby Crown Court that the police recovered a desktop computer, a laptop, a hard drive, and a USB drive.
The desktop computer did not contain any relevant material, but the other three devices did.
Authorities discovered a total of 969 images, some classified in the most severe category, as well as 100 videos.
These images and videos had been downloaded over a period spanning from October 2018 to January 2020, until the devices were seized.
Some of the content involved children aged between one and five years old.
Mr.
Lowe noted: "On the laptop, 798 images were found that had been downloaded between September and October 2019 over a two-week period." He described the case as "quite unusual," adding that typically, individuals involved in such offenses may claim to seek help or deny involvement.
He stated, "In this type of offence, one reads that they are trying to deny it, but the report says his risk is low and he can be managed in the community." Rather than imposing an immediate prison sentence for three counts of making indecent images classified as categories A, B, and C, the judge opted to give Glogiewicz a second chance.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, effectively allowing him to avoid immediate jail time but under supervision and specific conditions.
