JOSHUA DOBSON FROM GRIMSBY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL

In March 2013, Joshua Dobson, a 19-year-old resident of Corinthian Avenue in Grimsby, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl.

The incident involved Dobson taking advantage of the young girl and engaging in inappropriate physical contact with her, which led to his conviction.

According to court proceedings, Dobson admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the minor and was also found to have sexually assaulted her on June 18.

The prosecution, led by Patricia Doherty, detailed that Dobson had sent the girl numerous inappropriate text messages prior to the incident, which indicated his predatory intentions.

The court heard that Dobson later visited the girl at her home, where the assault took place while she was in bed.

Despite her pleas for him to stop, Dobson continued his misconduct and committed a sex act in her presence, an act that the court described as deeply troubling.

During the hearing, Craig Lowe, representing Dobson, emphasized that his client had made admissions and expressed remorse for his actions.

Lowe highlighted that Dobson had issued a sincere apology to the girl and her family, indicating some level of remorse and acknowledgment of his wrongdoing.

Judge David Tremberg addressed Dobson directly, stating that his actions were likely to have caused the girl significant emotional trauma.

The judge underscored the severity of the offense by remarking, “You clearly knew what you were doing was very wrong.” As a result of his conviction, Dobson was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Additionally, he was subjected to a ten-year sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact with minors.

The court also imposed a lifelong ban on him working with children and ordered him to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential harm.
