MILLOM MAN JAILED FOR MULTIPLE SEX CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN
A man has been sentenced for a series of serious sex crimes.
Joseph Penrith, aged 44, was jailed for nine years after admitting to nine charges, including rape and sexual assault.
The case emerged after he was arrested in April 2018 on suspicion of online offences, which prompted three victims to come forward with reports of abuse from their childhood.
Penrith was convicted of inciting a girl under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency, rape, sexual assault, causing a child to watch an image of sexual activity, three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity, and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court, where he was also ordered to be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
Additionally, he received a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be under a six-year extended licence upon release.
