BLIND PERVERT JAILED FOR 10 YEARS AFTER RAPING GIRL, 12
A BLIND paedophile was today jailed for 10 years.Joseph McCann, 60, raped one girl when she was just 12.
There was another child asleep in the room when he attacked her.
He also plied young girls and a boy with alcopops and drugs.
Sentencing him at the High Court in Glasgow, Lord Phillip branded McCann a danger to children, adding: "You systematically groomed your young victims by ingratiating yourself into their lives.
A social inquiry report reveals disturbingly that you have shown no remorse.
"You also spoke disparagingly about your young victims and sought to blame them for your behaviour.
"The effect on your victims cannot be predicted, but it will be with them for life." McCann will be monitored for five years after release, and was placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
As he was led from the court, the rape victim's mother screamed at him: "You wrecked my wee lassie's life." McCann, of Titchfield Road, Troon, had been found guilty at the High Court in Perth last month of raping the girl in his house in 2005.
He was also convicted of culpably and recklessly supplying alcohol over a period of six months to his rape victim and another girl and boy.
McCann was also convicted of supplying the girl and two pals with cannabis, using lewd and libidinous practices, and sending them obscene text messages.
During the trial the jury heard how McCann rolled cannabis joints for the children and smoked it with them.
Although he did not drink himself, he plied the youngsters with alcohol.
The rape victim's mum said later: "He is just pure evil.
I hope he dies in jail.
"My daughter still has nightmares about what happened and wakes up screaming he's coming to get me.
They've let him out'.
"She was so disturbed by what happened to her that she cut off her long hair and is constantly being sick.
"She hasn't even been back to school since, but is receiving special tuition."
