DUNDONALD MAN DODGES JAIL FOR SAVAGE ATTACK ON PARTNER AFTER MEDICATION CHANGE
A MAN who subjected his girlfriend to a savage assault after the court heard he changed his medication has avoided prison.David Anthony Wilson, 38, admitted assaulting his partner and threatening behaviour in Burton Loan, Troon on March 4 this year.
Wilson admitted spitting at the woman and repeatedly seizing her by the body.
He then pushed her into the bedroom and repeatedly struck her on the head and body.
He then struck her head off a wall causing her injury.
He also shouted and swore at his ex-partner in an aggressive manner as well as throwing clothes and household items.
Wilson also took hold of a hammer behaving aggressively and then went on to damage household items.
He also demanded property from others before pursuing the victim.
During his appearance in Ayr Sheriff Court for sentencing, defence solicitor Peter Lockhart explained that Mr Wilson has a number of health issues and was admitted to hospital, during which his mental health medication was changed.
The solicitor added that the Caledonia Men’s Programme would benefit him and members of the public.
The court was advised that, despite the seriousness of the domestic matter, a non-custodial sentence was appropriate.
Sheriff Shirley Foran stated that Mr Wilson was very close to going to prison and described his behaviour as 'appalling behavior over a prolonged period.' Wilson, of Richmond Terrace Dundonald, was subsequently sentenced to a community payback order with 30 months of supervision, must participate in the Caledonia Men’s Programme for two years, wear an ankle tag for four months, and was given a non-harassment order for three years.
