JORDAN BROWN SENTENCED IN AYR AND GLASGOW FOR RAPE AND VIOLENT ASSAULTS

A man identified as Jordan Brown, aged 26, has been sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes involving two women. The offences took place across different locations, notably in Ayr and Glasgow, and included acts of sexual violence, physical assault, and coercive control.

According to court reports, Brown committed a brutal rape at a Travelodge situated in the heart of Glasgow city center in June 2021. During this assault, he reportedly used physical force against the woman, pushing her onto the bed, pinning her down, and then resorting to punches and slaps. He also seized her by the hair and forced her to remove her clothing, ultimately raping her and causing her physical injuries. The trauma inflicted during this incident was severe, and the court heard how the attack left lasting scars on the victim.

Brown’s violence did not end in Glasgow. He also carried out a series of abusive and controlling acts against the same woman in Ayr. These included making abusive remarks, forcibly accessing her mobile phone, and monitoring her contacts. He repeatedly contacted her through calls, text messages, and social media platforms, often threatening to release an intimate video of her if she did not comply with his demands. His controlling behavior extended to dictating her clothing choices and showing up uninvited at her various locations. Brown demanded that she retract a police complaint she had made against him, further demonstrating his coercive tactics.

His physical violence was also evident in Ayr, where he physically assaulted her by grabbing her throat, placing her in a headlock, and striking her. The court heard that Brown’s violence was not isolated to this incident; between August 2018 and March 2019, he had previously assaulted another woman in Ayr. That earlier assault involved threatening her, punching her, damaging property, sitting on her, and strangling her, among other violent acts. These repeated acts of violence underscored a pattern of aggressive and controlling behavior.

In addition to these assaults, Brown was convicted in January 2022 of indecent communication with a third woman. During that case, he was found guilty of sending her sexual messages and videos, as well as exposing himself to her. These actions further demonstrated his pattern of predatory behavior.

During the sentencing hearing at Glasgow High Court, it was revealed that Brown acknowledged some of his conduct as 'very bad,' although he disputed other aspects of his behavior. His legal representative pointed out that he was between 20 and 24 years old at the time of the offences, had limited previous criminal history, and that this was his first custodial sentence. Despite these mitigating factors, the judge emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and the profound impact on the victims. The court handed down an extended sentence of 11 years, which includes eight years of imprisonment. Additionally, an indefinite non-harassment order was issued against the woman involved in the rape, aiming to protect her from further contact or intimidation.
